Quality is delighting customers

Please use this Discussion to introduce yourself to the group and give a little background on how you use Cucumber.

I'll go first.  I am an Agile coach - been doing it for seven years.  For the past 2.5 years I have used Cucumber and ATDD as my approach to functional testing.  I have coached teams using this tool for web development (in Java, C#, and PHP), Informatica Transformations, a batch application, an iPhone application and most recently a telephone queueing and routing system.  I am in the process of writing a book on the tool that targets testers that a new to automation and scripting.

Were you able to find online resources to help you get started?

We are using cucumber with selenium for automating web application.

Currently we are writing feature file and as per that file we are writing step definition so that we could execute our feature file accordingly.

Excellent.  Perhaps we could start a thread about some of the mechanics of how this works.  We could talk about what goes in feature files and what goes in step definition files.  Also, we should discuss good coding practices related to keeping our code clean, etc.  Would you mind starting that thread?

It would be great. I'll share some of the details whichever I've got so far.

If you've worked with TestNG or any other framework then please do let me know. As we've just switched from QTP to Selenium.

There is no reason to introduce TestNG.  Instead, use cucumber to drive the browser.  Just make sure you specify your Scenarios at a high enough level so you are not mentioning anything about the UI in them.

I do suggest using the page-object gem to build an abstraction around your pages so you can make changes easier as the application grows.  This gem supports selenium or watir.

Exactly, we've written high level scenario in our feature file and also using page-object for the same.

Before that we were writing UI level steps in our feature files but after getting reviewed, we were asked to write high level scenario instead of UI specification.
