Quality Testing

Quality is delighting customers

Can any one say me that after getting build application from the developer from where  we can start our testing. That means if there r 3 cycle of testing then in 1st cycle  we do smoke testing and regression,In 2nd cycle we do retesting and regression....

I am confused about this please correct  it.

Hi Sapan,

First u have to understand the entire project in order to gather the current project requirements.u r not mentiond either manual testing or automation. In manual testing u have to prepare testcases before going for testing. There is no need prepere testcases in automation in order to  generate the code in quick test professional

Testcase is nothing but checklist it defines how to test a functionality in terms of customer user requirements depending upon input and output process

First in level 1 will do Smoke testing

in level 2 will do regression testing

in level 3 releasing the B- versions to the users .in this testing tester perform testing on the masterbuild or high bug density

Testing levels are vary from one organization to another oranization .

If any issues plz let me know.

thanks and regards,

Anu.

Hi Anu,

I agree with you but when we get build application from the developer that times (Manual testing)

First level- We will do Smoke Testing that means we will only check the measure functionality of the                             application .

My question is that how we can check the other functionality of our application in level1?

We will do regression or system testing.

     please let me Know

Thanks And regards

Sapan

Hi

I agree with you.But I want to give an example by which we can clarify it better.

Suppose I Have written 50 test cases according to  my application. When

I will get build application from the developer. 1st Cycle- MY 1st responsibility

to do Smoke Test after  Smoke test pass then I will test other functionality in this

cycle i.e regression testing.(or something else please clarify me) Suppose in

regression I got 20 bugs out of test cases. Then we will come in to the next

cycle i.e Cycle 2.In this cycle I have retest the application according to find the bug

in cycle1(here we find5 bugs out of 20).Then move to again regression testing

In this cycle again i will find 8bugs.Then total no of bugs in this cycle is

12(Regression+Retsing bug). Then this bug will be retest in cycle 3 of testing.............

Please let me know I am right or wrong

Hi Sapan,

u r ri8 only y becoz  in  testing does nt a matter how many times we test but we have to give quality assurance .As a tester we have to log the bugs when build is totally free from bugs. ithink so u got my point.

if any issues plz let me know

thanks and regards,

Anu.

 @ Aruna,

At no point of time build is totally free from bug... !

Completely wrong ... You are still confuse...   I strongly feel that you need to learn the basics first then only you can get to understand the complete process ... !   for example :-  You say you will do Smoke followed by Regression in first cycle itself..????   if yes then You don't know what is regression testing ...  and if you don't know what is regression testing then you don't know what is retesting and if you are not well up with these two terms then you need to focus on basics...

Looking forward to listen something from you , so that We can guide you to overcome ......

Hi Samrat,

I am telling about levels of testing  like smoke testing will do in level0,afterthat will do Comprehensive testing in level 1,regression testinmg in level 2,final regression testiong in level 3

iam also new android mobile app testing but i am trying to clarify doubts who are posted me.

iam also posted so many doubts if u want to clarify plz look into previous posts.

regards,

Anu

Am still not convinced ...    firstly I should say , Its Cycle not level...  anyway :- so don't you do Smoke in 2nd Cycle..???? ( refer : Smoke testing will do in level 0).  regression in cycle 1.???? ( refer : Regression testing in level 2 ).   It is not always necessary that smoke will be done .. If the development team has a history of delivering stable builds we will not necessarily perform Smoke rather will go for through testing ....

Note:- We may perform Smoke in each and every cycle .. but regression will be done from 2nd Cycle onward ...

Hi Sir

First I want to say that I am not a working person and I am fresher But i want

     to know these things.

I want to give an example by which we can clarify it better. suppose i have

written 50 test cases according to  my application. When I will get Build

application from the developer. 1st Cycle- MY 1st responsibility to do Smoke

Test after  Smoke test pass then I will test other functionality in cycle2

i.e regression testing.(or something else please clarify me) Suppose in

regression I got 20 bugs out of test cases. Then we will come in to the next

cycle i.e Cycle 3.In this cycle I have retest the application according to find the         bug in cycle2(here we find 5 bugs  out of 20) ie retesting then move to

regression testing in this cycle again i will find 8 bugs. Then total no of bugs

bugs in this cycle is 13(regression+retsting bug). Then this bug will retest in

    cycle 4 of testing.............

Please let me know I am right or wrong

    Regards

     sapan

See .. in first cycle  you will execute some of the test cases lets say 10 test cases ( out of 50) for smoke testing .. if smoke passes you will continue executing all those test cases which can be executed on that build..  as long as test cases pass you will continue executing them .. If it fails , You will report the bug. suppose you executed 40 test cases with 30 passed and 10 failed.. remaining 10 could not be executed ( getting blocked ) .. testing team is done with their job , Development team will start fixing the defects ........

Now you will get a new build from the development team ( after fixes or changes ) . so in 2nd cycle once again you may rerun your smoke test cases to ensure that Major features are still working .. or you will execute 10 test cases which failed in your previous test run to ensure that the bugs have been fixed ( Retesting or Confirmation testing ) then you will once again rerun your 30 test cases (Which passed in 1st Cycle ) to ensure that the changes has not affected the unchanged area means those 30 test cases which passed in test cycle 1 is still getting pass .. ( Regression testing ) ..

Note: We execute regression test cases depending upon the Context or Complexity after Impact analysis .. Means it is not always necessary to execute every test case of Regression test suit ..  We may go for Partial or Full regression ....

Hope It will help you...

Thanks a lot. Actually anothor doubt in my mind that In which case we will go for sanity testing.
