Augmented Reality (AR) applications further necessitate an end user focus in software testing. Being a company providing 'qa testing services', 'manual testing services', automation services , accessibility testing services etc for now quite a decade we can say that the craze for augmented reality is slowly capturing the minds of the innovators and the domain is really getting popular in the industry at a very fast pace and so is the need for its testing services. So based on this I have listed some testing criteria(s) that a tester need to keep in mind while working with the AR apps:
1. Understanding client's requirements.
2. Test setup [Hardware/Software/Other Resources(if any)]
3. Augmented reality system should identify the test machine/device/hardware appropriately
4. User should be able to move(Vertical/Horizontally) the object model with the finger within the app and the positioning of the object model should reflect appropriately.
5. User should be able to scale the object model and can perform resize(Zoom-in/Zoom Out) operation.
6. User should be able to rotate the object model with finger touch and with the set of options provided within the app itself(like. buttons).
7. Visual effect should coordinate with the sound effect of the app(if any).
8. App quality deterioration should not happen in case the app supports VR effects or if app is viewed under VR set.
9. There should not be any pixel breakage
10. Errors should be handled beautifully with the help of toast messages.
11. Last but not the least QA engineers should cover all the potential scenarios and provide a holistic view of the product.
Apart from the above listed points, I personally find below 02 point to be one of the most important:
1. Appointing reliable team members/testers that are less sensitive to VR sickness so you get the testing you need on time without effecting the health of the tester.
2. If an AR app requires engineers and testers to move in the place by themselves while handing the AR technology/devices, then protected VR testing station should be setup so that engineers and testers could move without fear of being hurt.
