What is the importance of retesting a bug? Can any one explain indetail.

I agree with Mohan's answer.
Retesting means executing the same test case after fixing bug to ensure the bug fixing.

This is to ensure that the 'bug' is no more!

Hi,

Retesting is much important activity withing bug life cycle.

Because sometimes bug fixing is introduced few more issues in to application.& importance of the bug is only one knows who submitted this.

The meaning of the term Re-Testing exists in the word itself.
The prefix Re is placed before the word Testing which itself means the Once again.

Hence, the term Re-Testing means, testing an issue once again after it got fixed.

Retesting of a bug has it's own importance.
By retesting a bug, can only we (tester) come to know, the issue has really been fixed.

For perfomring the Re-Testing, we need to run the exact/accurate test case(s) in which we've detected the issue.
