As per the outsource qa below are the major differences between AJAX and REST:

Ajax

  • In Ajax, XMLHttpRequest objects are used to send the request to the server. JavaScript code uses the response to dynamically alter the current page
  • It is a set of technology or a technique of dynamically updating parts of UI without having to reload the page
  • It eliminates the interaction between the customer and server asynchronously

REST

  • REST Services requires the interaction between the customer and server
  • REST services have a structured URL and a request/response pattern to revolve around the use of resources
  • It is a type of software architecture and a method to request data or information from servers
  • IT requires the interaction between the customer and server
