Department Overview
Investment Management Technology provides systems development, implementation and support services for FIL’s global Investment Management division. We support Fund Managers, Research Analysts and Traders in all of FIL’s international locations, including London, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Mumbai.

Job Description
The successful candidate would be expected to be a part of the QA/testing group within the Investment Management Technology group, which would be responsible for all aspects of testing on product implementation, multi-platform, multi-client systems, developed on varied platforms and. The test analyst would be responsible for leading/supporting the system testing for the Strategic FIL IM Data Program. The objective of this program is to create a Strategic Data Environment meeting data needs for all front- office applications. Other strategic programs will become consumers of the Data environment. Test analyst would ensure that agreed quality of data is provided by the data environment. Experience and understanding of agile delivery methodology, test automation concepts and experience would be an added advantage for this role.

Key Responsibilities

 Liaising with the Program manager, development managers, delivery leads and defines the system test strategy for the FIL IM Data environment. Participating the project inception meetings and provide the testing oversight to the group. Test estimation and planning.
 Liaising with the Business analyst and develop the strong understanding and use of the various data source - FIL Reference data, Market data, Research data, Positions/Holdings data requirements.
 Creation of a data quality management framework and identify the different types of testing needed to manage the quality data
 Prepare the functional tests to verify the data quality at various stages of data flow. Ensuring maximum test coverage
 Testing the data acquisition and distribution mechanism – testing interfaces and services
 Testing the jobs/loaders responsible for loading/transformation data from various sources of various types
 Conducting technical research to support the testing of services based systems/solutions
 Identifying the tools to facilitate the data quality checks. Automate the data quality check process by integrating the testing process with appropriate tool set
 Coordinating the system test cycles / UAT with testing teams based in different locations/ groups
 Planning and execution of tests in efficient and organised way.
 Accurately reporting test preparation and execution progress.
 Promote the principles of good data testing, transferring skills to other IT staff as appropriate.
 Maintain a current working knowledge of the key business systems and future developments.
 Work to agreed standards and procedures.
 Identification of non functional test scenarios based on the non functional requirements.


Experience and Qualifications

 B.E./B.Tech. or M.C.A. in Computer Science or MBA (Finance preferred) from a reputed University.
 Minimum 6 years of hands on experience in application testing (manual and automation)
 At least 2 years of relevant testing experience in testing data environment
 Experience in the data testing and analysis tools like Informatics Data Quality, Informatics data explorer , IBM information analyzer or any other data testing tool set
 Proven record of achievements in testing teams.
 Experience of complete project lifecycle execution of projects.
 Experience of working with multi-cultural and geographically disparate teams.

Essential Skills / Experience

 Candidate must be familiar with the Mutual Funds and Investment Management industry
 Exposure to any structured software development life-cycle methodology ( preferably Agile or Iterative development).Knowledge of Agile delivery methodology
 Experience and working knowledge of tools such as Quality centre,
 Ability to liaise with a number of stakeholders in application development and business groups
 Knowledge and experience in defining the test design and architecture of the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) based solutions preferably around acquisition, management and distribution of enterprise data for an asset management company
 Knowledge and experience in testing services which are developed using technologies like SOAP, REST, WSDL, XML etc
 Testing the security/authorization and authentication implementations
 Ability to think from a customer viewpoint and to understand the complexities of the business.
 Ability to analyse the data and spot the failure/corruption trends.
 Ability to analyse defects and spot trends
 Ability to accurately log defects, escalate issues and risks and provide accurate management reporting.
 Thorough understanding of test principles such as unit, smoke, functional (black box/white box), user acceptance and usability testing.
 Thorough understanding of automation test principles
 Experience of working in tight deadlines in a mature ‘time-boxed’ testing environment
 Be able to demonstrate consistent and good judgement of assessing severity of issues.

Desirable Skills / Experience

 Exposure to ETL (Extract, Transform & Load) tools such as Informatica PowerCenter)
 Exposure or familiarity of Oracle and Sybase
 Experience in SOA test tools
 ISEB certification or equivalent
 Understanding of technology with emphasis on the various layers in a multi-tiered architecture.
 Exposure to a varied environments and products like
 SQL and Relational databases (Oracle & Sybase)
 J2EE technologies and the Websphere family of products
 C++/.NET and the Microsoft environment
