I am considering it as a web based ecommerce application.
First important part is write all requirements. It must include functional, system, browser, nonfunctional, perform,ance, volume, stress requirements.
Most important part of ecommerce application are
1. Statutory and regulatory requirements
2. Privacy and confidentiality requirements
3. Security requirements
4. UI, usability requirements
5. Online help, support availability requirements
6. BCP and DRP requirements
Write the test cases for each of these aspects and conduct testing

As per the best practice of software testing company, Below are the reference for test cases which you can use for an e-commerce website.

• A user able to search by Product Name, Brand Name, Categories. Etc.
• Once a user finds a product either by search or by clicking on it from the home page or from any other browsing site the user should navigate to the product detail page.
• Complete details of the product like Quantity, Product Description, Price, Discounts, Stock Availability, etc. should be mention clearly on the home page.
• On Clicking Add to Cart button, a user should be able to add a product to the cart.
• A user able to select an address Can update quantity from the cart page. Calculate Shipping costs with different shipping options. Apply Coupons. Don’t check out, close the site, and come back later. The site should retain the items in the cart.
• On the payments Page, Show Different payment options. Options to show add and save credit card, Other payment optionis. Emails/Text confirmation should be generated when the order number generated.
• After placing an order test Change the Order, Cancel the Order, Track the Order, Returns.
• Other Tests Like Login, Sign up, FAQs, Contact Us page, Customer Service page, etc.
