Quality is delighting customers
Example for Priority:
Every Application needs a login. If you are not able to login to application then you cannot test further. That means its a show stopper. Then this defect is high Priority.
There is a spelling mistake in the application, then its low priority.
In a banking application which deals money, if one cent is added to 99.99 then it will become 100. Here the changes is taking place to Hundred. If the same calculation mistake happens at 99999.99 then its a big defect. So this is high severity. If the amount is 25.25 then adding a cent will sum to 25.26. Then its a low severity.
Hi Krishna the difference come here..
Severity is the measure as to what extent the defect is harmful for the application, on the other hand Priority is related, as to which defect the tester wants the development team to fix first.
For Example:-A system crash is an example of high severity, but suppose that occurs when user click a button and the usage of that too is very low, so there is no urgency to fix it now, so this is an example of low priority and high severity.
The client logo is not appearing on the web site but the site is working fine... in this case the severity is low but the priority is high because from company's reputation it is most imp to resolve.
