I think right now for QTP- VBScript is necessary.
If you see selenium clients prefer java, ruby, python.
Basically tools dependent. Just pick a tool and align yourself

C is not at all a scripting language, VB Script and JavaScript u can learn for QTP, and u can learn perl or python both are scripting launguages.."
