Dynamic Testing is Functional testing.

There is no point of relationship between Static/Dynamic with Functional Testing....
Offcourse, Static and Dynamic both be done for functional aspects..

Static Testing is not a functional testing.Static testing is also called Verification.

Hi Mahesh,

Well when we discuss about the functional testing then mostly it would prefer to static testing . i mean we can create static test cases for the each functionality basis on the our test documents that is called develop the test cases documents .

In Dynamic testing we execute these test cases as well as some current display testing aspect which comes on execution of the test cases with test data.

Please let me know ........any comments ,.

As Zahid commented, it will be incorrect to relate static/dynamic with functional testing. BTW can you please elaborate what do you mean by static and dynamic testing here? How can you statically test anything?

What according to you is Functional Testing?

Then only can justify Static and Dynamic aspects.

For me,

Functional testing is both Static and Dynamic!

Me,

1) Functional TESTING comes into picture in Test EXECUTION phase not in Test DESIGN phase, right or wrong?
2) During Test Design phase if you say "Developing Test cases" why do you DEVELOP test cases? or you meant authoring?
3) In Dynamic Testing you execute CODE not Test cases, can't you test the application without Test cases? right or wrong?

During CODE review if a Logic is incorrectly implemented which is likely to erupt as a BUG, isn't that STATIC Testing?

Static:
Testing conducted by Testers against the documents furnished by stake holders with the actors in the project involved to baseline the existing effort for theirs.

Dynamic:
Executing a program with an intentions to uncover defects by tester in their presence.

Come out of the age old techniques of TEST CASE!!!

Dynamic means changing, what is that changing every time(build)? It’s CODE and you may or may not use your test cases(which you claim to be developed) to uncover defects.

IF you communicate a MISSING requirement from the document during discussion, isn’t you are uncovering a potential defect?

Your test cases ONLY validate the functionality not desire functionality. Yes Stack holders could be customer, client, end user, BA, higher management.

Hi,

Static Testing means verification. This means reviews and meetings conducted to evaluate the code, requirements,design and development.This can be done with check lists,issue lists, walkthroughs and inspections and meetings.

Dynamic Testing means validation. It is conducted after verification. It is exactly testing and its based on the requirements.

Please correct me if i'm wrong..
