Functional testing is Black box testing either executing Manual test cases or automation test cases. It is just to verify application output with respect to Input values, it does not validate process/logic of it, we just verify that A+B=C. We are not worried that how can be A+B=C. To verify internal things we use Equivalent class partitioning, Boundary Value Analysis, etc...
2+2 = 4 & 2x2=4.

We do not know how system is processing input, we just verify output, that should be as per the requirement.

Test for – all the links in web pages, database connection, forms used in the web pages for submitting or getting information from user, Cookie testing(functional testing)
