Pros and Cons of Working Remote for QAs

Hi Ekta,
I'm very interested in this and have been promoting more of a telecommuting mentality. These days we have so many tools and technologies that enhance communication that there's no reason why people need to be co-located. However they do need to make a concerted effort to communicate and collaborate, and this is more difficult when you're remote.

In order to facilitate strong teamwork, communication, and collaboration from a distance, remote employees need to share openly of themselves. They need to do more than just present their professional self, but share a little of their personal side. Networking tools allow us to share photos and go beyond a purely business relationship. Share jokes, tell a little about your hobbies, and befriend your teammates, even if you never physically meet them.

The advantage of working remotely is that there is no commute! We also have many more opportunities to work from anywhere and to experience the diversity that comes from a distributed team.

Pros and cons are arguments for or against a particular issue. Pros are arguments which aim to promote the issue, while cons suggest points against it The term has been in use since the 16th century and is a shortening of a Latin phrase, pro et contra, which means “for and against.”

The term "Pros and Cons" means both the primary positive and negative aspects of an idea, process, or thing, and is often used to clarify or decide whether that idea, process, or thing is mainly positive or mainly negative.

Hey Yvette,

That's what I was wondering on that more jokes etc be sahred and an employee is just not and ID but be treated as an individual. With existing,VPN and RDC technology along with setting up WebEx sessions for meetings etc.there is absolutely no reason people need to be physically be present at the office.

From the company perspective, company does not have to have a physical space and cubes for employees, don't pay on internet connections, do not need to pay on phones set up and phone use and employees save on time to commute.
