Need Clarification on Integration Testing

Can anyone answer following questions?

1) What is integration testing?

2) Who does integration testing?

3) How the integration test cases look like?

4) Example where we integration testing is conducted in SDLC?

John,

Please find your required answer below:

1.) Integration Testing is a part of White Box Testing and it is performed after Unit Testing. IT is performing when two of more units/modules are integrated and functionality needs to be tested.

2.) Usually Developers are performing this if it is integration of code. However if it is integration of modules/application/pages then Tester performs it.

3.) It can't be defined here. But the test are there to check that functionalities should be working after integration.

4.) As I explained in point 2, its its integration of code, then it will be just after development of unit codes. Else after getting small-small modules, tester test it before getting the complete official build for testing.

Kapil thank you for the detailed explanation. My doubt is, does testers write the test cases for Integration testing?

Yeah they can write Test cases for integration testing EG : You want to know the Employee XYZ details Front end you are using ASP.net Backend SQL , Front end and Backend are integrated. you want to check integration applications are working fine or not ... i hope u will understand ...
