How to launch .exe file through LoadRunner

Hi,

Can anyone guide me the possibilities to launch the .exe application through LoadRunner?

Hi Min,

Try the following steps:
1. In the Start Recording window, select "Application type" as "Win 32 Applications" from the drop-down.
2. Browse for the .exe file and select it from "Programs to record" drop-down.

Hi,
Once you open Load Runner>>Click on New>>Instead of selection of Protocol from Drop Down>>Select Client/Server technology >>Browser the required application i.e .exe file which you want to record.Please let me know if still need any clarifications.

We tried with this , i am getting 16 bit application not supported.is there any possiblities to launch the excel using load runner.

Hi Min

You can use the "system" function in the LoadRunner script, for example:

Action(){
     int res;

    res = system("C:\\MyApp.exe");      

    return 0;

}

Use the Application Type on the Record to Window as "Win32 Application"
Under Program to record Browse to the desried exe file u want to launch/record. Click Ok and start recording.
If it still doesn't launch then check on the protocol selected, generally u might have to do a setting change to get the recording started.

You should be able to do so by giving the path to the exe in the "Program to Record" line of the "Start Recording" pane!
