How early a tester should try to switch himself on a different application.

I am looking for your prolific opinions on "how early a tester should start thinking to change his/her project" provided that he/she has got enough of the domain and working experience on current one and starts observing learning slope is almost dead.

What are the advantages and disadvantages in both the cases..(switching and staying).

Zahid,

I have slight different view, I am currently working on 2 projects at a time and don't find any trouble. May be as they belong to same domain.

Learning actually never ends with any domain, it's Tester who loses interest because of repetition task.

3-4 yrs is high in any domain.

Switching:
Advantages:
1) Some thing new to learn
2) Interest towards work is drawn

Disadvantages:
1) Starting from scratch requires lot of efforts
2) Adjusting to new environment requires ample time

Staying:
Advantages:
1) In a better position to judge
2) Chances of better designation increase

Disadvantages:
1) Loosing or lacking interest
2) Taking things for granted without drilling down, scope for assumptions increases

Staying in a same project for longer duration makes your Technical growth stagnant, learning curve descreases.
Switching helps in learning new technologies and domain, meet and interact with new ppl and teams.
