1. You have to find out the scenarios according to your requirement and prepare the SLA for sign-off.
2. According to your Scenario you have to record the script & enhanced the script.
3. According to your scenario prepare the scheduling and identify monitor systems.
4. Execute the schedule, observe Monitor and Analysis the result.

This is an high level steps for performance testing after this you have to break down each of the phases.
Thanks for the reply. but how do i enhance the script ? well, these are the steps in OPenSTA i have done.
1. I recorded the browser activity and i saved the script. I have added the virtual users like 10,50,100 and so on and it generates various reports like HTTP Datalist, TimerList, Test Summary snapshots.. From this how do i analyse the result ? How do i Come to a conclusion that the max. no of load is reached and how do i know the Response Time. Kindly help me in layman's language as it would really help a lot for a beginners like me. :)
Hi,
According to me, the only way to test the limit is to do stress testing.
Like for example, you added about 10,50,100 virtual users, but everything worked normally. So try exceeding the users gradually until the system stop taking any more users or outputs some error. This way you'll get to know the max number of users supported.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense :)
Do you mean this state .?
" Upto 5oo users its showing the results after which the task is not completing. I mean say like if i give 510 users it continues to run without giving any result"... so 510 is the max. Load it can withstand ? and could you explain the phrase"outputs some error" in your post ?
What kind of result was it giving upto 500 users? Is that a pass/fail result?
And by saying 'outputs some error' i mean the final/actual result not being as expected.
Hey am a newbie.. How do i Know that its a pass/fail result.? Can I have your e-mail id. I just want to talk reg. the subject. Mine is subramanian.itpro10@gmail.com. It would be great if you could clear my doubts.
