Banking Transactions- Domain testing

Hi all,

I am switching to a different domain from web application testing to Business Service: Transaction in banking industry. Can anybody explain the roles & responsibilities in Testing banking transactions.. What topics shud i prepare ?

Testing Unix Based Server
credit card processing
oracle DB queries

can anybody share the work experience in Testing Transactions.. Have no idea since its different domain for me. Share docs. also if you have.

Thanks fr ur reply siddiq. Do yu have any knowledge in Testing in Transaction domain in Banking? Can you summarize the roles & responsibilities in Testing banking transactions. Any documents yu have ?

Hi Subramanian,

Unix Putty Server / Winscp or Control M loader are mainly used to run the Batch Jobs .

Banking projects are having huge OLTP data so daily batch run is needed , you need to schedule and run the master and child jobs associated in the path or as per DTD or as per the MS Visio Diagram or Job Flow.

In order to schedule a job you should know the : Order Date of Job Run , What type of File is anticipated ( DAT file / Flat file / Deli metered file )

For Running the Jobs you don't require any knowledge , but for debugging or to perform why job has failed ( Failure analysis) you need to have strong SQ L skills.

Eg: Space Spooling Issue in Unix Server might happen if you run a job that has huge data associated with that.

In this case you need to raise a Remedy Ticket or Ticket WRT application.

Secondly , You need to know the Minus Queries to fetch the result set and SQ L Functions ( Max , Min , Proc Date , Sys date) Etc etc.

I suggest you to go through Typical Oracle SQL queries to improve the logic behind the testing.
